This is a practical overview of names you’ll see often when browsing used listings — not a ranking, since the “best” brand depends entirely on your discipline, budget, and local availability of spares.

Established, wide-range brands

Axis Foils and Armstrong are two of the most widely ridden brands across prone, wing, and downwind foiling, with large modular wing ranges that make it easy to find compatible parts second-hand — a real practical advantage when buying used, since a used Axis or Armstrong fuselage is more likely to match a wing you already own.

F-One, Duotone, and Slingshot come from strong kite and wing backgrounds and are especially common in the wing-foiling and kite-foiling second-hand market, often bundled as part of a wing-plus-foil package from riders upgrading their full quiver at once.

Foil-focused specialists

Code Foils, Lift Foils, and Sabfoil build foils as their primary or sole product line, which tends to show in refinement of the foil-specific details — mast stiffness, fuselage-to-wing tolerances — though ranges are narrower than the multi-discipline brands above.

Gong and Uni Foil are known for offering genuinely capable gear at more accessible price points, which also tends to make their used listings some of the best value for a first setup.

Smaller and regional brands

KT Foils, CloudIX, and Progression show up more often in specific regional markets. They’re worth considering on the used market especially if a local rider is selling — you avoid any shipping complications and can usually test the gear in person, which is always worth more than the brand name on the wing.

What actually matters more than the badge

• Compatibility with gear you already own — a used front wing from a brand whose fuselage and mast standard matches your existing setup is often a better buy than a “better” brand that requires a full new fuselage too.
