A used foil can save you half the price of new, but only if it is straight, sealed and fits your setup. Work through this list with the seller, ideally at the water.
Front wing and rear wing
- Sight along the leading and trailing edges for dings, cracks or soft spots.
- Check both tips: scuffs are cosmetic, cracks are not.
- Look at the fuselage connection for wear, corrosion and stripped threads.
Mast and fuselage
- Aluminium corrodes around stainless bolts: look for white powder and bubbling paint.
- Check the top plate for cracks and the mast for twist.
- Make sure every bolt comes out cleanly.
Board
- Press around the foil track and the deck: soft spots mean water or delamination.
- Check the track box for cracks.
- Small dings are fine once properly sealed.
Paperwork and fit
Ask for the receipt or a verified history, and check the connection system on the product page so the wing fits your fuselage. On foiling.market every listing shows the exact model and a price check against RRP and recent used prices.
